We are seeking a System Administrator to work in our clients IT Operations department at their Philadelphia, PA location. The System Administrator is responsible for the administration and maintenance of file servers and computer systems in a mixed environment. Network operating systems include Linux and Window 2008 ADS. The Systems administrator must work closely with the Senior Systems Administrator and MIS Operations Manager and provide support in managing network communications within the organization. Responsibilities include network security, installing new applications, distributing software upgrades, monitoring daily activity, enforcing licensing agreements, developing a storage management program and performing routine backups. Troubleshooting network problems and providing technical support as required.

Duties:

The skills required for this position include; strong experience and knowledge of network operating systems, networking technology and practices. Must be detail-oriented, flexible and have the ability to adjust and respond to crisis situations and provide technical expertise for the administration and maintenance of Network Systems. Must have proven technical and project completion skills in addition to the ability to communicate to technical and non-technical users. Demonstrate skill in meeting deadlines within specified time frame. Including working technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, extensive application support experience, working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards, strong knowledge of local area network administration, hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience, experience with data management, strong interpersonal and oral communication skills, adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals, ability to conduct research into software issues and products as required, highly self motivated and directed, keen attention to detail, proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, strong customer service orientation, experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
The candidate will be responsible to: manage and administrate all operating systems and their corresponding or associated software, manage communications and connection solutions, including local area networks, company Web site, intranet, and Internet applications, manage and ensure the integrity of host computers, multiple databases and data transfer, deploy all host security activities, oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user desktops, install and configure messaging and printer systems, distribute and supervise server storage space allotments, design and implement disaster recovery plan for operating systems, databases networks, servers, and software applications, manage and administer all e-mail messaging systems and their corresponding or associated software and hardware, install, configure, and initiate Microsoft NT/Exchange servers, software, and any other corresponding equipment, provide on-call technical support, analyze system or application usage and plan for growth or increases in network capacity, assess need for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them if required, ensure connectivity of all workstations, conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts, develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use. Also, practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information, administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights, manage and administrate telecommunications and its associated software, including PBXs, call management systems, voice mail, interactive voice response, and video conferencing systems, generate telecommunications usage and inventory reports as required, conduct testing and development disaster recovery plans to detect faults, prepare telecommunications budget recommendations, perform system backups, monitor and test server software performance and provide statistics and reports, recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases.

Qualifications:

The idea candidate for this position will have a minimum of 3 years System Administration experience, administrating one or more of the following operating systems: Linux and/or Windows 2008 ADS. Special skill sets include Systems Virtualization (server and Client VMware preferred), Storage Area Network/Unified Storage (NetApp, VNx, Clarrion, Compellent) MS 2008 ADS, IIS 7.0. This position is fast paced and requires the ability to deal with stress, requires lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals. Candidate to be on-call and available for [14] days per month, sitting for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components, and occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings. A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required; MCSE/ CNE/ MCNE preferred.
