The Network Administrator is responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting all network and voice-related hardware, software, and communication links. In addition, the Network Administrator’s responsibilities include managing and ensuring the stability of all network, voice, and wireless services throughout the enterprise.
Duties:The responsibilities and duties of this position include the following; Participating in managing all network security solutions, including firewall, and intrusion detection systems, overseeing installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network/VoIP-related equipment, conducting research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts. Also to develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery, configure networks to ensure smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes, adherence to the IT Operations Division change management, password policy, and utilization of the appropriate mechanisms to maintain the management of configurations for the network infrastructure, practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information, monitor and test network performance, and provide network performance statistics and reports.
The job requirements of this position include having a minimum of 5 years of experience in each of the following disciplines: Network administration, CISCO IPT (Call Manager, Unified Messaging, and Cisco Contract Center), LAN, WAN, WLAN and WWLAN implementation and management, network capacity planning, security principles, and best practices, enterprise network troubleshooting (LAN, WAN, MPLS, EPL, etc…), and reading and creating technical documentation. A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is required; Cisco Associate and/or Professional level certification(s) preferred.
This is a fast paced position and requires the ability to deal with stress. The position requires lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals weighing up to 50 pounds, from time to time. Candidate must have on-call availability for fourteen  days per month or more, sitting for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components, occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively to coordinate tasks and resolve anomalies.
The skills and abilities required include; Knowledge of Cisco IOS and other networking technologies, as well as industry-defined best practices, strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, extensive knowledge of IP telephony systems, including CISCO IPT (Call Manager, Unified Messaging, and Cisco Contract Center), must be detail-oriented, flexible, and have the ability to adjust and respond to crises, the ability to provide technical expertise in the administration and maintenance of network infrastructure systems, as well as the ability to communicate to non-technical users, proven technical and project completion skills, as well as the ability to meet deadlines within specified time frame, working knowledge of server, pc, and other operating systems. Knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including Cisco routers, switches, packet shapers, firewalls, etc…, develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery, conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry, configuration management and change control of network infrastructure, practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information, monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports, oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades, hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience, strong interpersonal and oral communication skills, adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals, highly self-motivated and directed, and proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
